English II quiz One

Summative Assessment for Maturation
Unit Learning Target: I can track the maturation of a character throughout a text, and I can identify what forces affect the character’s emotional growth.
 Materials
 The graphic novel Persepolis
 The film Persepolis
  Erikson’s Psychosocial Stages Summary Chart

After reading the novel, students will read and briefly discuss Erikson’s Psychosocial Stages Summary Chart. With a partner they will attempt identify what stage of maturation there are currently experiencing.

They will then view the film Persepolis, explores the life of the main character from the ages of ten to her mid twenties. After viewing the film the students will fill out a blank Stages Summary Chart. Student will record the key life events that assisted or hindered the main character’s maturation.

Students will then use the chart to plan and create an essay on this question: In the memoir Persepolis, What force had the greatest impact on the protagonist maturation process. Include at least two details from the memoir or film to support your answer. Student will be assisted with all phases of the writing process, and I will provide instruction on the ACES method.
