Discuss these questions with a partner:

·      What elements of your syllabus require maturity to complete?
·      What is the hardest rule or guideline on your syllabus to follow?
·      What are three concepts that will be taught in this class?
·      Yesterday we discussed the difficulties of maturation. Today discuss: the benefits of maturation, motivation behind maturation, the rewards of maturation, and the successes you have experienced while maturing.
·      What elements of adulthood are you most excited to experience? What elements frighten you?

Watch the TED Talk on Kids Need Structure and answer the following questions on a separate sheet of paper.
·      What is the speaker’s claim?
·      How does the speaker support his claim?
·      What types of support does the speaker use to support the claim?

·      What are the strong points of the speaker’s argument? What are the weak points?
·      What is the speaker’s logical appeal? What is the speaker’s emotional appeal?
·      How does this speech relate to our unit on maturity? Does he cover any of the ideas you discussed at the start of class?
·      Are there any similarities between this speech and the other speeches we have view?
·      What is your personal opinion about the authors claim? Is the claim valid or flawed?
